Looking for Waikato River cycle trail accommodation – or somewhere to stay whilst you ride the Pureora Timber Trail?
Or just a place where mum can have a holiday too. Unlike many holiday homes, we don’t expect you to bring your own linen or clean up upon leaving. We’ll take care of all that so that mum gets to enjoy the holiday as much as everyone else!
We are located on Mt Titiraupenga farm, about 15 minutes drive from both Mangakino and Whakamaru, 45 minutes from Taupo and Rotorua, and 1 hour 20 from Hamilton.
We are well situated for the “free” walks in the area including the Waikato River Trail and the Pureora Forest Park. We are cycle-friendly and provide secure under coverage storage for your bike.
Whare Awhina provides comfortable accommodation for up to 8 people. It is not necessary to go on one of our guided walks although many people do chose to combine the two. Guided walks are at extra cost and bookings are essential.
Whare Awhina is a fully self contained unit set on a real New Zealand farm (note that the accommodation is on the farm – not up in the bush) and has been recently redecorated and refurbished. Booking form at bottom of page.
There are 3 bedrooms, 1 bathrooms, a wood burner and a well stocked pantry.

Many people are enjoying holidaying at Lake Maraetai on the Waikato River and we offer comfortable accommodation as well as the extra security of keeping your boat on a privately owned farm at night.
Price is $145 a night for up to 5 people using 2 of the bedrooms. Then it is an extra $15 a night for each extra person up to a maximum of 8 people.
More than 8 people in your party? No problem! We’re happy to work out a solution.
Check-in time is between 12 noon and 2.00 pm, however we will do our best to fit in with your schedule if you would prefer to arrive earlier or later. Let us know when booking.
Check-out time is 11.00 am on the day of departure.
